  • Kra Canal The Development of Southeast Asia

The concept of cutting a canal through the Kra Peninsula in southern Thailand has been a conception in the minds of visionary thinkers for hundreds of years. In the early 1980s, it nearly came to fruition, as associates of Lyndon LaRouche, including especially Pakdee Tanapura of Thailand, mobilized leaders of the Thai government, American scientific institutions, Japan’s Mitsubishi Global Infrastructure Fund (GIF), and leaders from every major country in the region (except Singapore and China) to two conferences in Bangkok dedicated to implementing this great project to unite the Pacific and Indian Ocean Basins via a canal. The waterway would link the Indian Ocean and Andaman Sea, with the Gulf of Thailand and the South China Sea. But the British Empire has repeatedly, throughout history, acted to stop the building of the Kra Canal – both because they wanted to maintain the strategic choke point over Asian trade which they enjoyed through their colonial outpost in Singapore and the Malacca Strait, but primarily because such a project would facilitate cooperation among the Asian nations for mutual development and resistance to western imperial dictates– a result to be feared and undermined by the Empire. Financial and political crises in the 1990s, caused by British financial interests and their lackeys such as George Soros, prevented the implementation of the Kra Canal project during the final decades of the 20th Century and early 21st Century. But now the world is experiencing a global revolutionary transformation, and the British Empire, including its puppet Bush and Obama regimes in Washington, is facing dissolution. A new paradigm has emerged, centered in China, bringing Russia, India, Southeast Asia, and potentially the entire world into its development orientation, the “win-win” perspective of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s New Silk Road perspective, known as the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). In South and Southeast Asia, China’s “21st Century Maritime Silk Road” concept (map), introduced by President Xi in 2013 while speaking to the Indonesian Parliament, has already brought the nations along the South China Sea, the Malacca Strait, the Andaman Sea, the Bay of Bengal, the Indian Ocean, the Arabian Sea, and through the Suez Canal to the Mediterranean, into an entirely new economic and political geometry based on rapid infrastructure development. But missing in this geometry has been the hub represented by the potential of the Kra Canal. Now that potential is very close to realization, as the entire Asian region is breaking away from British/American constraints, and acting in its own interests to facilitate win-win development for all parties. At the same time, leading political forces in Thailand are now in a position to launch the project. _________________________________________________________ Subscribe to our YouTube channel: http://lpac.co/youtube Get active, become an organizer: http://lpac.co/action Receive daily email updates from LaRouchePAC: http://lpac.co/daily Donate to LaRouchePAC: http://lpac.co/donate-yt Keep connected at: https://larouchepac.com/ https://www.facebook.com/LaRouchePAC https://soundcloud.com/larouche-pac https://twitter.com/larouchepac

The "floating market" is a phenomenon of Bangkok where because of the many rivers, canals and waterways (called Khlongs) where people live on these canals and use them like a highway with boats as means of transport instead of cars or trucks. When it comes to market days, Saturday and Sunday, farmers truck their goods to the market by boat as that is their means of transport. People come to the market by boat and land vehicles to buy from local food vendors who offer their goods right from their boats. The "floating market" is just 12 kilometers from downtown Bangkok, but it can take an hour to get there by car due to the immense traffic problems, which coming by boat alleviates that problem and that is another reason the market on the water makes practical sense. The floating market has a market on land as well as part of the attraction. The land market has a larger variety of food and goods selection and probably a little more dear in price. An added attraction are the longtail boat cruises. These odd long and narrow vessels, some with car engines balanced off their stern with long propeller shafts are another wonder of the waterways that serve as roads. These water roads, khlongs, have intersections and traffic in two directions with everything like paved roads, but these highways are paved with water. There are many sights to see, sea creatures, homes of every look and kind and even golden Buddhist temples on the shores of these networked khlongs. Of Singapore more than 5 times. The area between the canals will be the area to prepare the foundations for the construction of the port. It will save a lot of soil and hair. Building dams around the harbor would save tremendous time and money. Because the preparation of port construction work can be done along with the Thai Canal excavation. In this video, We will discuss about the revival of ola Kra Canal project. Reference - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thai_Canal http://www.business-standard.com/article/economy-policy/china-pushes-plan-for-canal-to-reshape-indian-ocean-118040600034_1.html Transcript - Hello Friends, welcome to Real Quick Info channel. Please subscribe our channel, and click on bell icon to get instant notification for our new video upload. Lets discuss about today's topic. You may know, The proposed Kra canal is supposed to connect the Gulf of Thailand with Andaman Sea by cutting Thailand into two parts. Reducing distance by 1200 Kilometers, This canal is supposed to provide alternative to transit through the overcrowded Malacca Straits. Though Just like Suez Canal or panama Canal, this Kra canal will improve transportation, yet this proposed canal could not be developed in last 300 years due to high cost , negative effect on environment and fear of growing separatist movement in Southern most provinces of Thailand. We all know, The worst fear of china remains the Blockade on Malacca strait during any geopolitical crisis. That’s why China obviously loves this new route. As per 2005 American report, China was even ready to pay 25 Billion Dollars to build this canal. In the year 2015, Thai government signed a memorandum of understanding with china for this project. For very obvious reasons, Thai government had to deny the existence of any such agreement. But as its said, an Idea never dies. As per news published in Business Standard, once again last month, a very influential group in Thailand has demanded creation of committee to examine this 30 Billion dollar project. You can figure out who is fueling this artificial demand in Thailand for Kra canal. Anyways, With full funding support, Now China is willing to include this project in Belt and Road initiative. Without any doubt, If this canal is built, it will increase Chinese influence and capability to intervene in Indian ocean. As far as Thailand government is concerned, they are in dilemma. In public they are not interested in this project, but in private they are ready to cut the deal with Mighty Chinese. While we all have discussed about China Pakistan Economic Corridor project, We need to be warned about this canal project as well. Along with global community, we need to ensure, that such project should not be completed by funding from a Single country. If this project can really help all nations of the region, all should take part in it. Understandably, china is not interested in taking other regional countries along for this project. Anyways, Indian government need to carefully consider the negative effect of this new canal on the power balance of Indian ocean, and take appropriate timely action, As per your views, Kra canal should not be viewed as Chinese threat to Indian Interests in Indian ocean? Please let us know your views in comment section below. Please find the reference links of this video in the description box below. Thank you friends.
